چکیده

We have investigated laser induced breakdown in Ar O2 and Ne O2 gas mixtures with different O2 compositions to study possible energy transfer between excited atomic and ionic species (Ne, O, Ar, Ne, Ar, O) in these gas mixtures. Laser pulses of 5 ns duration with a repetition rate of 10 Hz from a frequency doubled Nd: YAG (λ = 532nm) delivering up to 75 mJ energy per pulse were used to create sparks. Energy transfer was inferred from the changes occurring in the intensities of specific atomic and ionic transitions in the respective emission spectra of Ar O2 and Ne O2 gas mixtures compared with the corresponding intensities in the spectra of pure Ar, Ne and O2 gases. Strong evidence of energy transfer from Ar and Ne to O was recorded. High lying metastable levels of Ar and Ne are believed to play important roles in this collisional energy transfer.

Inactivation of Gram-Negative Bacteria by Low-Pressure RF Remote Plasma Excited in N2-O2 Mixture and SF6 Gases

The role of low-pressure RF plasma in the inactivation of Escherichia coli O157, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, and Enterobacter sakazakii using N2-O2 and SF6 gases was assessed. 1×109 colony-forming units (CFUs) of each bacterial isolate were placed on three polymer foils. The effects of pressure, power, distance from the source, and exposure time to plasma gases were optimized. The...

Effect of Ar and O2 Atmospheres on the Fundamental Properties of the Plasma Produced by Laser Ablation of Lithium Niobate

The in uence of gas atmospheres (at 1 torr) of different natures, both reactive (O2) and inert (Ar), on the spatial evolution of the electron temperature (Te) and electron density (Ne) of the plasma generated by laser ablation of a LiNbO3 target is evaluated by optical emission spectroscopy techniques. It is found that the behavior of Ne in the plasma produced in vacuum, argon, and oxygen atmo...

Photochemical processes in doped argon-neon core-shell clusters: the effect of cage size on the dissociation of molecular oxygen.

The caging effect of the host environment on photochemical reactions of molecular oxygen is investigated using monochromatic synchrotron radiation and spectrally resolved fluorescence. Oxygen doped clusters are formed by coexpansion of argon and oxygen, by pickup of molecular oxygen or by multiple pickup of argon and oxygen by neon clusters. Sequential pickup provides radially ordered core-shel...
